THE WORLD IS LOSING ITS COLORS.

The Grey Armada has discovered how to extract color itself and convert it into energy. Entire landscapes are being drained, leaving lifeless monochrome territories behind.

Take control of the Chromacraft, fight through the invading forces and restore color to the world.

CHROMABLAST is a brand-new vertical scrolling shoot 'em up developed specifically for classic Commodore Amiga hardware.

FEATURES

• Fast vertical shoot 'em up gameplay
• Dedicated OCS/ECS and AGA versions
• Detailed scrolling environments
• Multiple enemy types and attack formations
• Weapon evolution and collectible power-ups
• Decoloration attacks that physically alter the landscape
• Large animated boss encounters
• Original Amiga MOD music
• Classic joystick controls
• Designed for real Amiga hardware and compatible emulators

TWO WORLDS CURRENTLY IN DEVELOPMENT

World 1 — Verdant Valley
Fly over rivers, villages, fields and forests while the Grey Armada attempts to drain the countryside of its color.

World 2 — Crimson Skies
Enter a hostile volcanic landscape filled with magma rivers, rock formations, craters and increasingly aggressive enemy forces.

More worlds will be added as development continues.

AMIGA VERSIONS

OCS/ECS
Designed for classic systems such as the Amiga 500 and Amiga 600.

AGA
Enhanced version for Amiga 1200-class hardware, featuring richer graphics and expanded color.

A very interesting shooter that we will definitely keep an eye on. By the way, the samples of the highscore tune comes from "Overdrive" (Team 17, 1993), and some shooting sounds are from "Magic Pockets". 😊 Our German-language preview from April can be found at 03:43:58. English subtitles are also available. Subscription to our YouTube and Twitch channel is welcome. 🙂

Hi everyone, Michele from GV here. Yes, we used and currently use AI tools to help develop Chromablast, and we disclose that on our itch.io page because we want to be open about it.

For us, this project comes from a childhood dream: making our own game for the Amiga we grew up loving. Many years later, these tools are helping us turn that dream into something people can actually play.

This is not vibe coding stricto sensu, there’s a lot of work behind what you see and you can commonly catalog as an AI-created product: sleepless nights testing code, tracking down bugs, refining the graphics, adjusting the gameplay, introducing new ideas, and trying to make everything fit within the Amiga’s memory and performance limits when the code is badly behaving. Sometimes, that means spending an entire evening fixing a transition or revisiting something we thought was already finished. AI helps us along the way, and we still have to test, question and rework the results. We take responsibility for what we release.

We understand that people have different feelings about AI, and we respect that. For us, having help making a childhood dream come true is something we’re happy to be honest about.

We hope you’ll give Chromablast a try, no matter what. Feedback on how it looks, sounds and plays is always welcome, and helps us make it better. 🙂Thanks, Michele and GV team.

I tried the game this morning, from first play it looks like River Raid, but obviously it's different.

I’m probably making a bold statement here, but most games created using AI lack a soul. I can’t quite explain it—it’s just a feeling. Perhaps someone understands what I mean.

Try playing an old Amiga title alongside one created with AI.

Of course, this is just an early look. It will likely take time, but I’m sure there will be no lack of effort to create a game that stands out from the crowd of titles currently in development.

Keep it up!

it is a very bold statement you are right and I can agree with you in certain ways, but I can assure you that in this game we put our soul and a lot of our ideas (under the hood too in the engine)...and at the end of the day, who cares if we got helped by an AI if we can fullfill a childhood dream? :) We will keep it up with the same soul, and same or greater effort to publish the game :).. thanks for your endorsement.

Regardless of AI, I believe that all developers who still care about legacy computer systems deserve support.
So, I’ll wait to see the game improved and finished. I might be pleasantly surprised :)

yes, it's the same, but the game got a huge update since then :) thanks for your posting!

Nice game!

Thank you so much, I appreciate! Keep following us. mr. Saberman! :)
